Happy Chostakovitch
The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Dmitri Shostakovich, the great Russian composer who was born in St Petersburg in 1906 and died in Moscow in 1975, and an emblematic figure of 20th-century music. This concert, for strings and piano, pays tribute to his life and music. It includes works by Shostakovich, alongside pieces by other composers who played an important role in his life, such as Britten (the friend to whom he dedicated his 14th Symphony), Prokofiev (who supported him against the Soviet regime) and Weinberg (who was freed thanks to Shostakovich's intervention). The concert is presented by Axelle Thiry, host and producer for Musiq'3.
