Li R’vindje di l’Åbe

Patrick Leterme's new composition is inspired by two poems in the Walloon language by the Liègois writer Henri Simon (1856-1939). They recount the tragedy of an oak tree, sacrificed on the altar of human greed.  Leterme has chosen to write a large work for orchestra, choir and percussion. The composition, a blend of symphonic writing, sounds of nature (foliage, branches, logs) and songs inspired by folk traditions, creates a deeply original score, between tradition and modernity, and which invites us to consider our relationship with nature within the current environmental crisis.
