New World Symphony

Premiered at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1893, the celebrated New World Symphony is a skillful blend of Czech music with melodies inspired by Native American musical folklores. In the slow movement, Dvorák created one of the most beautiful themes ever written for the cor anglais. Ysaÿe's orchestral music has enjoyed a revival in the last decade or so. Many scores have been rediscovered or recorded for the first time, such as the beautiful Poème nocturne (1926), which the OPRL recorded in December 2023.
