Alexandra Dovgan
"Impressive concentration combined with purity of expression and a creative imagination". MEDICI.TV
Russian pianist Alexandra Dovgan is just 18 years old, and her career has already taken her all over Europe and as far afield as Buenos Aires and Detroit. A protégé of Grigory Sokolov, who predicts “a great future” for her, she stands out for her incredibly beautiful and precise sound, delivered by a true personality. After the darkest and most passionate of Schubert's last three sonatas, she takes on Franck’s Prelude, Chorale and Fugue, a tribute to both Bach and Liszt, and then plays Prokofiev, who at just the age of 21 wrote a 2nd Sonata that was already flirting with modernism.
