THE WINDS PICK UP
Five soloists from the OPRL and Belgian pianist Julien Beurms share their passion for the repertoire of quartets, quintets and sextets for piano and winds. They will perform the well-known Quintet by Mozart, which is almost a ‘chamber concerto’, and Poulenc’s Sextet, with its charming gaiety and expressiveness. But they also invite us to discover the sparkling Sextet by Louise Farrenc, one of the greatest pianists of the 19th century, Jean-Michel Damase’s Quartet for piano and winds, with its distinctive French flavour, and Samuel Barber’s Summer Music, which showcases each instrument of the wind quintet.
