Brazil: Trio Misturado & Guests
Renato Martins is a Brazilian percussionist based in Belgium, renowned for his virtuosic playing and for his research into new techniques on the udu and the cajón. With his Trio Misturado (7-string guitar, flutes and percussion), he brings back the traditional 'choro' (a sort of joyful lament) and combines it with new works in which refinement and improvisation enhance the soothing melodies and fascinating rhythms of Brazil. The programme will also include other styles drawn from the rich Brazilian folk tradition, and the ensemble will welcome three distinguished guests on vocals, 7-string guitar and the cavaquinho, a 4-string guitar). An evening of poetry, epic melodies and contagious rhythms.
