DEATH AND THE MAIDEN
The Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie interprets Schubert's most famous quartet, Death and the Maiden, in Gustav Mahler's version for string orchestra. Mahler, sensitive to the Schubertian pathos, transformed it into a drama full of existential concerns and questions. Composed at the age of 12, Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto in A minor shines with the elegance of its Classical style and gives us the opportunity to hear for the first time in Liège the elegant playing and colourful palette of the Franco-Hungarian pianist Suzana Bartal.
