The Golden Hour
“The Golden Hour” refers to those magical moments at sunset and dawn when the light changes. At the political crossroads between Louis XIV and Louis XV, the viola da gamba was living out its last hours of glory in 18th-century France: the violin was beginning to take centre stage. Ensemble Masques accompanies us into these years of cohabitation, even confrontation, between a viol in the twilight of its life and a violin at the dawn of its soloist destiny. A programme of trio sonatas for a subtle dialogue between elegance, inventiveness and virtuosity, with the finest soloists of the moment.
