Maki Namekawa

Séries
Description

« This music is the life and breath of Namekawa. [...] An incomparable unity is created when composer and performer work closely together. » (New York Times)

A tireless interpreter of contemporary music, Maki Namekawa is also the regular pianist of New York minimalist composer Philip Glass, whose first complete Études she recorded in 2014 to unanimous critical acclaim. In 2019, Glass wrote his Piano Sonata No. 1 for her, an ambitious score marking 20 years of collaboration. Then it's on to jazz with Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea, the former with Ritual (1977) and its strange but lyrical ostinati, the latter with his Children's Songs, captivating miniatures inspired by Bartók's Mikrokosmos
