MOZART, PARISIAN SYMPHONY
The prestigious Basel Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1926 by the Swiss conductor, patron of the arts and industrialist Paul Sacher. To mark its centenary, the orchestra will be going on tour and will be making a stop in Liège, where it will perform for first time Specialists of the Viennese Classical style, the players will perform Mozart's Symphony No. 31, which he wrote in Paris at the age of 22, and his emblematic “Turkish” Concerto, featuring Bomsori Kim, a South Korean violinist and the new star performer of the Deutsche Grammophon label. True to its tradition of premiering contemporary works (having premiered pieces by Bartók, Stravinsky and Honegger), the Orchestra will perform a new work by American composer Mike Svoboda.
