Tchaïkovski, La Pathétique
An autobiographical symphony, Tchaikovsky's ‘Pathétique’ evokes a socially impossible love, that of the composer for his nephew ‘Bob’. It mirrors an unparalleled personal drama, in which tragedy and emotion unfold in music of rare intensity. German composer, flutist and conductor Manfred Trojahn (born in 1949) was profoundly influenced by his encounters with Ligeti and Rihm. A major figure in the 'New Simplicity' movement, his works are now performed all over the world. He is delighted to he present his latest composition with the OPRL.
